Up late again...

Hello all. I have so much on my mind, I'm having trouble getting sleepy. Tired, yes. Maybe if I hadn't chipped an iceberg out of my 1946 fridge at 10:30?

Or maybe it's the big dinner at Mom's? Plus the homemade strawberry shortcake? But - one thing I know is really on my mind, that I haven't really shared with all of you yet. Ya see, I didn't get to go out of town this weekend as planned. I had the car checked over, and the oil changed, tires rotated, etc. and they found massive amounts of brake work that (they say) totals around $700.00! Of course, I will get a second opinion, but jeez Louise! The worst part is that I felt like I let Mick down by not making it to the Casablanca. Because, I have two boys of my own, and he feels like a son to me, and because I am fairly new to all the blogging stuff, and he is the first few that I have come to know and like...but it sucked.
Then, there is the fact that my two older granddaughters are here from Florida. They moved about a year ago, and I haven't seen them. I used to have them almost every weekend, before "mom" decided to take them to a place far far away. So, since they are staying with their uncle, I feel that I have to "make appts" to see them. I hope I'm just tired and delusional, but it seems like they are purposely delaying me seeing them. Granted, their Dad -my youngest son- has had issues, but I wanted to always be there for them. Maybe tomorrow will be a brighter day..right now it's getting ready to storm, winds blowing and thunder and lightening.
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down....

Dont even for a minuent think you let Me Down! I totally understand stuff happens, its not like you thought "Oh God what a perfectly DRULL idea... I'll make up some car trouble and get out of it." I know how bad you wanted to tbe there! I would have called you and Vintage Christine during the party so you could listen in, but I only have local service at the lake! Look zootsuitmama, Im honored you even considered coming and you'll never know how much I appreciate the effort you put into getting down here! Your welcome at the Casablanca anytime, (and hey, start saving now because were already planning for 2015 and another party to celebrate 10 years) *fingers crossed I make it that long* :) Love always -Mick-

That means a lot, Mick. I hope I make it that long!! And you can bet by then, I'll learn to get car things checked out way before the day before the party! Zootsuitmama

The money they charge for car repairs is why I now lease every three years. I know it sounds silly and like a big waste of money, but I'd rather throw a ton of money into a new car every three years then deal with what we have going on with my husband's car. That piece of junk Dodge isn't even paid off yet and already we've invested like $6K in repairs. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with this although that strawberry cake sounds yummy.

I hope you get to see your grand daughters soon :)

Bless you. I am so glad Mick wrote that to you! It is really awful to make such great plans and then boom they blow up. Take care and try not to fret but I know you feel badly about the grandkids. Hopefully you will be able to see them soon!

I don't have grandkids (cuz I never had kids) but I have nieces and nephews and they could care less about hurting your feelings when they're younger. I think they feel that Aunt Chris (or grandma or grandpa) is going to be here forever--I know because I held that thought about my beloved Aunt Shirley waaaaay into adulthood and still regret not having gone to visit her more often. My oldest niece is finally realizing how much she likes us, another niece is coming around, and so on and so on. Hopefully your granddaughters will catch on sooner rather than later. They have such a cool granny!!!!! Oh, and speaking of youngsters who have all the time in the world--when I read that Mick is planning another "event" in 2015 my jaw dropped. That's five years from now! At my age, I can't wait that long or I'll be in a wheelchair and drooling at the old fogie home before then!!!!

I'll be right in there with ya Vintage Chris..maybe we'll roll down together! Thanks for all the moral support! I took my grandkids to the thrift stores and they spent much of this evening sitting at my vanity looking at all my cool stuff! Zootsuitmama
