I got a cute rug at the Dollar Store with a hoot owl and the moon, for$1.00! The chenille pumpkin rug was a gift from my daughter last year.The Holiday Cookbook has a cool Halloween section.

My "colonial" Fall colored curtains are perfect for the kitchen window over the sink.

Some Autumn ramblings...

This was a good day to go to the thrift stores, piddle around, bake my Cinnamon friendship bread...really pretty weather!A tablecloth I really love for this time of year -cannot find as many as I would like. I wish I had a whole set of Fall leaf dishes and glasses, but, you know how we are, can't pass up the cool odds and ends, either! I cannot find my crows from last year, I love this crow sign. I ordered some more crows, and hope they come soon!

I had intended to start my owl collection so that I would have a bunch of them before Halloween, but I did get a few. I had collected them for my daughter, but I saw a really cool idea at a bed and breakfast last Halloween, and it gave me the inspiration to collect them. The owner of the B and B had tons of owls on her side porch. Also lots of frogs. They looked really cool. Oh well, always next year I hope!

My favorite time of the year is mostly the colors, well - ok, the nice cool nights and the warm Indian Summer days, too!

Yes, the flowers are fake, but I can drag them out year to year without spending anymore money!

My son pulled the garden today. It's sad, but just part of the changing seasons. Lots of fried green tomatoes in my future!

1st Halloween installment

My favorite part of Halloween decorating is to haul out my many Pumpkin Head men! I wouldn't care if I had a hundred, I'd still not be able to pass one up!Some have black cats, some are hobos, but all are super groovy in my book! And much cheaper than the "Victorian" paper mache candy holders, etc. I cannot even afford the knockoff versions! Love them though!  Blo molds are one of my biggest weakness! I buy them all year round, as you know if you are a reader!The back room/dining room is the "blank slate" I use to decorate for the holidays-because it's got the china cabinet, and a lot of big walls that I can change around without too much redoing. But, as evidenced by the multitude of nail holes in the wall, they are going to be a major PATCHING project when I paint!

I usually do one wall with mostly Witchy stuff...one with pumpkins and one with cats.

Another favorite is my Spin O Rama game. (below on the Witchy wall-I found it and some other Biestle paper items at a garage sale a few years ago.

The kitchen was kept in a Fall mode, just because it is sooooo much stuff to move. I am still in the process of washing all my Fall Melmac, etc. to stock my open cabinets. I used this fall motif ribbon and some white doily shelf paper (vintage) and placemats (vintage) for shelf paper.

A few years back, Dollar General sold these fiber optic scarecrow heads. I love them! They really set the mood for Fall. I like to turn off the lights and watch him. It is so pretty!

Above is my "candy corn colored" fondue pot, and one of my Tang pitchers. Also a set of Autumn leaf glasses.

Hey all!

I've been very negligent in posting so-here goes! After getting a new job, WHICH I LOVE!!, I told you all about my fall. Two weeks ago, I fell at the grocery store and have been suffering every since, but nothing broken. Thankfully, I made it through the last two weeks and didn't miss any work! I am still very sore and bruised, but can see some light at the end of the pain tunnel...So, I finally got a real (albeit partial) paycheck that wasn't from unemployment! I couldn't resist hitting the thrift stores, but used GREAT restraint. However, I did find a pumpkin head man blo mold for a couple of dollars, and some other blo molds for my daughter's new place. She is already decorating, (wonder where she gets that?) for Halloween. It got really cool here the last week or so, with one night around 48 degrees! That sets us off for believing it's almost FALL!

I collect these! The one I got wasn't exactly like this, but moer a hobo looking guy with a top hat - but I haven't taken any pix. Anyway, more later. Hope all are well, and I am keeping up on your blogs, even if I don't always comment. I work four long days so I can have 3 off, and love it, but I am sure not used to the hours and having to be somewhere on a schedule after being off 4 months (argh! I still cannot believe it).

Rednesday means Wednesday!

Red kitchens have always been special to me because my Grandma's kitchen was red and yellow. Enjoy! Soon, when things calm down from the new job and my bruised and broken body, I'll have new and fresh pix!

OOOPS I did it again!

...had a fall, that is! Oh yes, I was wearing my crocs (they are now going into the trash - because I just slipped in my kitche by the dog's water bowl a couple of weeks ago, and these shoes are treacherous on water!), and was walking through the store to get milk Friday night. Before I knew it, I was on the floor. I hit really hard, and looking around I see a lake of water around me. Three young guys were trying to help, but I was in horrible pain. The kid that was mopping just stood there for a while. I noticed then, that there was no sign up stating look out for wet floors. Soooo...I'm laying there in extreme pain and the kid says, "why don't you sit on these milk crates?' I roll over and try to get up, and my leg wouldn't work, and the pain was worse. The three young guys helped me into a chair, and the pain was even worse. I asked them to call an ambulance, by then I was sure I had a broken hip, and they were there  quickly. Feeling stupid, I am rolled through the store and into the ambulance. According to the xrays, nothing is fractured or broken. The pain is still pretty intense, and I was given some pain pills that #1 I don't like to take and #2 They don't do much anyway. All after having the best first week at work! All I could think about was what happens if I broke something, having to take off work this soon, etc. So, that's my weekend. Hope yours was better! Hope all of you on the East coast got through Irene, which makes my little misfortune look very insignificant!

New Job Finally!~!

I finally started a new job today!! It's been so weird not being full time employed, I almost have to pinch myself! Can't wait to fix up my retro office! Pictures later! I am so grateful.

Formica is one of my many weaknesses, as you can see! Guess I'll be getting my brown fringed chair back from my daughter, just in time for Fall! Snuggly!
