...More flamingo stuff

Just found this one over the weekend-This is a restaurant plate!pink plastic to go on my vanity And - of course- the big mama of them all..., over my dresser in my pink flamingo bedroom.

Monday morning Time for all flamingos to come home to roost!

Every Spring, as soon as Easter is over, I get antsy to bring out the plastice flamingos for the yard. I spiffed the yard up, got the grass cut and even cleaned around my little trailer. So...the flamingos can now come home to roost! I prdict they will land in the front yard sometime today. Meanwhile, all of the flamingos around the house are beckoning their friends to come home! Here's just a few...

Let the gardening begin!

Remember those little seedlings I told you all about a couple of days ago? Here they are- and the garden space has been tilled up by my sweet neighbor: Can't wait to plant!! Especially tomatoes, but those will have to wait a few more days.

My Retro Fiesta Kitschen

Hi all! Well,after some hellacious storms in the last couple of days, it cleared up for a while. Makes me think of the tropics. I wanted a multicolored kitchen to go with my brightly colored vintage tablecloths. I also have quite a bit of (new) Fiesta items, like a clock, napkin holder, kitchen timer, ice bucket, etc. that my oldest son was buying me for Christmas for a few years in a row.I mix and match the plates, most, though aren't Fiesta. I just love color. Here's a glimpse of a few things...

I can't pass up a cute cannister! Especially the metal with fruit or flowers. Soon I will break out my wooden set that are painted on the front with pink flamingos! I have a challenge for all you retro bloggers-Show me your kitchens!! Yes, I know I have several giveaways that were just mailed,  but I will pick a kitchen to be featured on my blog-AND-send a great gift that matches the one I pick!! This makes me sooo happy, cuz I get the double pleasure of giving something away, but also the vicarious pleasure of seeing your stuff !! I seriously LOVE Mama's Kitchen (check her out, she was featured in Vintage Housewife blog) and am now kind of thinking about changing the kitchen to more pinks and turquoises! But, this will also help me decide! I love getting ideas from others!

Thunderstorms

Why do I always get the urge to watch "Twister" when the weather's like this? Well, I opted to be responsible and did homework instead. There is a really wonderful and fragrent breeze blowing in my window, and this is one of the things that I love about Spring. Stormy weather, like life bubbles up, then passes. Today my aunt came to live at the nursing home where I am a Social Worker. I never realized the emotions that would come up around this. I am grateful on one hand that I can be there for her, but on the other hand, real life makes ya feel things, and I always tried to numb myself in the past to this. But it's true what they say, when ya numb yourself to the bad, youre numbing yourself to the good stuff, too. So, I'll just keep on trying to be real through the sunshine and the storms.

Tonight, my battery died on the camera, and it's too late to run out and get some, so I thought I'd post some repeats, and some new Oriental goodies. Enjoy!

My seedlings!

Today, I looked at my little terrarium, and my plantings in the little "mini greenhouses" and there they were. Little radish, beet, squash and basil shoots sticking their heads up about the soil. This is the first year I have tried to grow things this way, just to see how they would do. Then -as soon as we know there won't be another freeze, I can put them out in the garden!

I even got to see two of my grandbabies and oldest son and wife on Friday night for Mexican food (and my Mom)!

All in all - it's been a good weekend with great weather, and even scored a few goodies at the thrift store. Stay tuned for the growth of the seedlings!

Saturday stuff

Today was such a beautiful day to drive around- I thought I'd share 3 of my dream houses in Independence. Missouri-
I love the way these windows tilt out on the front. The darker pix are a house that I have always wanted to look inside - I think there's a pool in the back, but I didn't want to make the owners think I was a peeping tom. The one with the turquoise square on the front -I have featured on the blog before, but since it's in the best shape of all, I wanted it to be with the other flat tops. Two of the houses seem like the owners don't really appreciate what they've got. The best one, I think the owners have actually lived there since the fifties, and is immacutlate! I am really glad we got a great weekend day! Just piddling around, cooking, cleaning and shopping is my favorite kind of day. Hope you enjoy these little gems as much as I do.

My sis had one in her mod apartment back in the day! I already planted some herbs in it! Good News!

Well, I am so happy to say that Mick, from Everybody goes to Mick's -received his give a way package. My first! I am so glad he liked his stuff! And more winners have been drawn, and pkgs on the way as we speak. Now, more good new. Every time I hit the next 10 followers, like 40,50,60-etc... I will have a give a way! YES- I have a LOT of stuff, and want it to have a good home!!

Also, I found my PROJECTOR! I found it at the first Pawnshop I went to this weekend for a really good price. I made them hook it up and project a movie on the wall!!LOL. Can't wait to start showing movies in the backyard. Thanks Mick for the ideas!

Enid Collins Purse!

Ok, I haven't found any of these for a while! The ones I had sold really fast in my shop, but I now wish I had kept them. This is Enid Collins Roadrunner "box" purse. It's in pretty good shape! So cute for the Summer season! I love her jeweled little purses! Found this one at Salvation Army tonight.

Almost time for the Easter tacky blo molds

Ok-first off, the snow is melting! And secondly, I am off part of the day tomorrow, so I say...the light up Easter decor needs to come out of hiding!
