More diamonds..

I have this pattern on a bowl, too! Really like it!

Hard to see, but these glasses, which I passed on to my daughter when she and her boyfriend got their cute apartment, have black and gold diamonds.

In my china cabinet, you can see the bowl on the top shelf.

Two favs, florals and diamonds. I like the unusual shape and frame.

This bowling alley has been renovated, but the original has been a part of my life since I can remember. The new version is retro and awesome, if you ever get to my Independence Square, you MUST see this place!

Diamonds

This little cheese server was so cute, with the matching knife, I just loved it! In the background are some diner cups with little diamonds.  The diamond motif is really appealing to me lately!

It's time...for Wednesday thrifting show and tell!

Two plates that say, "It's time"...just think of the possibilities?! I like the fact that the hands are on the 5 and the 8..Breakfast or cocktails...or coffee!

I had this set once,  instead of blue it was in pink, and it had a hand holding a cup too.

This is called "Happily Married".

Barkcloth love. I don't know any retrophile who isn't Mad about these patterned beauties. Gaudy? Somewhat. Cool? Always. I think it takes me back to Aunt Ida's living room wallpapers. Whatever the reason, retro and vintage style is meant to be mixed and matched colorwise, and barkcloth just emphasizes this fact!

Weekend finds ...both at home and the thrifts...

I found this black and  yellow "pagoda" shaped planter at the thrift store this Saturday. It is Californian, and the sticker says "CALI-CALI".

 This glass in pink and blue pastels is a great find for 49 cents. I think I've had some like this before. Who cares about a matched set? I love mixing all  my vintage glasses with pretty colors together!

Kind of a Christmas "throwback", but also a Fifties "staple", the gnome. I love putting them out at Christmas, but they really are cool and cute any old time!

 This "bon-bon" tray, or so it is named on the box...is awesome! it has two ying-yang teardrop type dishes made of white and turquoise plastic. I'll bet some lucky early sixties bride got this for a wedding gift! Could it be Don and Betty Draper?

A couple of posts  back I talked about shopping in our own basements, storage spaces, etc. LOOOOOK what I found! This glass front Sunbeam toaster! The glass is painted on the inside with green, turquoise and gold leaves. MOD! and...it still works! My Fiesta toaster quit a few weeks back. I got this at Boomerang in KCMO about 1994. One of the few things I bought from a Retro/Vintage shop, it was so unusual, I had to have it. Why I put it away, I'll never know!

This is the end table that my friend found me at the Ozarks! It matches the coffee table. Blonde, kinda Asian.

I have a "thing" for these kleenex boxes. I have them in several colors.

Not a good picture, but this lady head vase didn't even leave the person's hand at the Salvation Army before I said, "I want that!" Never seen one just like it. She's wearing a turban type hat. $3.00!

This is my living room/swinging Opium Den, after the tree, etc. came down. It's nice to leave it kind of open..after the clutter of the holidays. Also, some pix of my dogs and the little guest room, which they think is theirs, of course!

I've been piddling around and switching curtains. My bark

cloth collection just got a lot bigger! That is, I found some, and please forgive me...in the basement. I pray it will smell right after I put it in the dryer with some fabric softner sheets. How it ended up down there, I'm not sure.  and... Camera dilemma/ machine madness part 2. I finally resolved to go and get a cheapo camera at Walmart. Got it home, took pix...started to hook it up to download, and yes...you guessed it! NO USB cord. Now, I hafta trudge back out and return it. What are the odds? I tell ya, somebody cursed me! Anyway, now I do have HEAT and a new thermostat. Film at ...read all about it...NOW HEAR THIS!! Zoot will never give up! There WILL be new pictures!

Rage against the Machines!

I have had about enough of these machines! Have you ever had a day ( or a few days ? ) that everything you touch either A)Falls apart  B) quits working C) both??? That's been my day. First, I don't have heat. It's zero, and my landlord said, "Just touch the two wires together til I get another thermostat" Not working. Thank God I have my electric simulated roaring fireplace!~ I turned the oven and all the burners on the stove on, too. So, not too bad. Then I got into the kitchen drawer and IT fell apart. I spent an hour pounding and straightening nails only to have it not really hold together. My computer at work has also been acting up. There is a fan not working, and finally it was replaced today. Maybe I have bad vibes, or I'm giving off some EMP Electromagnetic Pulse, that brings all the mechanical things around me down? I've gone through three cameras this year. I decided to go get one from the thrift store, and got a good one for ten dollars. Guess what? No drivers. I have searched high and low, but to no avail.What'd I tell ya?
So here's some more rerun pix, just so you'll know I'm alive and kickin'!

ooops, I probably shouldn't show this, my 1946 Westinghouse fridge! It may be jinxed now and break down.

I forgot about my sixties stereo. I dropped the speaker and now it won't reattach.

Various lamps...still working. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Getting Fresh!

No silly! not like that!, What I mean retro daddies and chicks is a FRESH NEW YEAR! Yes, all of these pix are of stuff I already have, but the New Year, holidays behind us, is a chance to remix, redo and refresh -it's almost like finding a huge flea market full of things you reaaaaalllly love! After all, you chose all these things, not by chance, but because they turned you on, baby! So, I'm going to post my final product with a remix of all my great vintage retro stuff, after I get it all together. And get a new camera. So, that will be fun! You show me  yours, and I'll show ya mine. Talk about getting fresh!!
