Cooler Summer day

ziggy

The dog days of Summer have been upon us, and Ziggy thinks it was way past time for a cool change! So this morning, I woke up to some clouds, a little sprinkle and lower temps! Yeah! I even felt like cleaning before midnight. Changed things around to make it less "heavy" feeling. I put my saucer chair in the living room, and my new pink and black formica end table! Chenille bedspreads, formica, open windows and a nice tune on the radio! These things all say Summer to me!

Well, I even opened up some windows!

Ok get aboard the Love Train....and visit the Avocado Green Seventies!

floral suitcase

I must say, I feel a little like an old fogey. Mom always looks at my fifties stuff and says, "Why do you want this old junk?" I mean, she got over it when she bought her Mediterranean furniture! So, the 70's stuff is kind of like that to me! But, it grows on me..and even looks cool when mixed with mid century. I have been surprised that such an interest has been given to these items on my Etsy.

So, what do you all think about the seventies? Or would you rather be at the Disco?

blo molds in Summer

http://practiceintime.blogspot.com/2011/07/thrifted-thursday-blowmold-bonanza.html)
Susie QT got me obsessing about my (and others) blo molds yesterday -see her post yesterday! She scored some awesome blo mold Halloween items, so I thought I'd do a post about them and get everyone else obsessed! I love these things and can't have too many! I mean more is better, right? Just look at Magpie Ethel's Santas ...further down on page! What an impact! How happy to walk up on a porch and be greeted by all of her light up Santas, especially the one peeking out of the picture window !

Wish I had them for every holiday! I once had an Uncle Sam, and I sold him. I regret that now!! Show us your collection!

Strange vintage plant stand

I found this plant stand at the thrift store, and I'm not sure I've ever ran across one before. It's gold metal with  swirly plastic grey and black shelves

On the shelves there are circles with little holes that (I think) are so the plants can drain? Anyway, it was a great deal, and I just had to have it. I can think of lots of places to use it, bathroom, porch, deck, etc. Anyone else seen one before?

Among my Souvenirs

Well, Americans took to the roads on Route 66 in the fifties, and brought back a lot of these prizes! Show me your souvenirs!

In the checkout, you could find the latest issues of TVGuide. This one has Bewitched "Samantha" on the cover. There was usually a fabric and sewing section, especially at Ben Franklin. And, patterns of course~

Toys were in the dime stores, too, but this cool Treasure finder works and it's still in the Radio Shack packaging! (for sale on my Etsy)
