Some days I am just more nostalgic than others.
I think what "Mother's Kitchen's" blog talks about is true.http://frankiezwife.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-did-we-get-here.html I know some modern things are good, but, I also think we as women have lost something along the way. How do you all handle loving the vintage life, but still live in the modern world? I'd love to hear from you. Check out the cool giveaway at http://ihearteverythingblog.blogspot.com/!!
I feel sad that I can't stay home and do the things my Mom and Grandma used to do. I try to pack it all into the hours before and after work, and on the weekends. It's not the same. I can't be a housewife, because I'm not married. All my kids are grown and living out of the home. But, I can't help but think "I still like being home". There are so many projects and things that need doing, but not ever the time. I remember a scene in the "Ya ya sisterhood" where they were looking at old photos, and there was a picture of the girls in the '4o's, just sitting on the porch together. I want to do that, too.

I love these little goats! Not a great picture, but cute!

Haven't shown my $4.oo yellow chenille bedspread. On the bottom right corner are some vinyl blue lacey placemats, the kind I used to find at Ben Franklin's.
Those were only five cents a piece! Then I found a pink vinyl covered bathroom scale that matches my trash cans and clothes hamper! 3.99 at Salvation Army!

While cleaning the dining room - I decided to put up some more "tablecloth" valances. Then I had to change the table of course! Nice bright and festive!
Happy Weekend, and hope you get to piddle, too!
...does anybody really care? With this clock and matching candle sconces, one can forget about time. Doesn't it look just like something from a Rock Hudson and Doris Day film?
I can't figure out if it's Oriental sixties, or just guady Home Interior. It's heavy plaster, so it makes me think it's not a cheapo home party type set.
Yes, Zootsuitmama went under the sea to retrieve her fishy bathroom decor! Well, ok, it was the basement, but it sure looks like I'm under water! Love the fish with lipstick!

I threw in a couple of African fifties items I for
got I had!
picnic tablecloth still in the wrapper!
Table with leaf for dinner..
