Sneak peak at my Halloween rooms....about 1/2 done

Ok -I am insane! Have to work at 8:30am, and messing around with the Halloween stuff at 2:30! Anyway, just a quick peek at some of what I accomplished. I made shelf paper out of fall napkins and trimmed the edges with ribbon. Then, out came all the fall dishes. I had to feature my daughter's brother Mike's band. They are the Haunted Creepies on Halloween and other Pagan holidays! They are awesome...I'll try to post some of their music. Stay tuned for more tomorrow.

I love this Gooseberry patch cookbook,

cuz it's got little stories about Fall on each page.Also, got some Fall and Halloween stuff from the thrift stores- pumpkin candles, jack o lantern dishes and Merilee brought a blonde coffee table and end table up from the Lake! I've got my Pumpkin candles burning! Not sure what this metal pumpkin pan is for - I also picked up the latest "best of" Martha Stewart Halloween.

My tile turned out ok! It's a little better picture this time, the closest thing to retro linoleum that I can manage at the moment.

Monday and it's starting to be different kinda day

Well, it's been  quite a weekend, and of course when my junkin buddy from the lake visits, we just go crazy, I had a blast, ate and drank coffee, and hit every store! I didnt find much, but it was still fun! Merilee brought my coffee table So then - I decided to take out my Summer sisal R and re-tile the whole living room a kinda marbelized green! I did see a couple of interesting  things..an Atomic black metal desk and a chair was awesome.
well ...I also recieved a cool kitcheny card from Vintage Christine. (Thank You!)

The end of summer as we know it...

Happy Labor Day! I did labor a little, of course. You can't live with three dogs and expect NOT to have to clean, but they are worth it! I did go to the thrift stores, but didn't find much. I did find something a while back that I forgot to show ya! A flamingo ash tray! Not the best picture, but oh well. I was over at Mother's Kitchen the other day looking at her awesome kitchen! and it made me want to show some of my own Mexican themed table cloths. I am so addicted to these. The bright colors, the graphics all are so nostalgic.Metal cannisters, bread boxes and cake boxes also are one of my "weaknesses". I can only stack them so high. My daughter was opening the cabinet this morning and said, "One of these days, those things are gonna fall and knock me out!" Doesn't she know me by now? I'm not practical. But seriously, I use my stuff!
It's part of living the lifestyle, and that is what makes me the happiest..using my vintage stuff. It magically takes me back to my Grandma's kitchen, one of the happiest places of my life!  I also love this painted and decoupaged scrub board. Matches the fiesta! I am slowly trying to start the Fall transition. I like my green tablecloth draped over my room divider. I can change it any old time with materials!
Well - the clock tells me it's that time. I'm in denial about the end of long weekends All in all, the weather was great, even if I didn't do much. Sometimes that's nice. Zootsuitmama

Thursday, plus one =Friday!

All the sudden, it dawned on me that this will be a long weekend! I love those moments. I always have so much I want to accomplish, but time seems to just slip away.What's your weekend plans? We have a local Santi Cali Gon fair at the Independence Missouri square. Santi, for the Sante Fe Trail, Cali for California, and Gon for Oregon. Anyway, there's a lot of sellin' eatin' musical partyin' folks up there..and I'm at home! I may break down and go up to the Cajun booth tomorrow, eat some alligator on a stick.Can't wait to just be home for a change! Zootsuitmama

My Betty Boop Birthday clock!

I got this from my son and his wife for my Birthday, way back in June. I decided to put it in my office, because A) I'm there all the time, and B) It goes with my WWII red white and blue theme. I love it when your family knows what you like and take the time to search it out! I think someone made this in a ceramics class, it's huge!!

This weekend, I got the urge to clean the fridge, all the cabinets and rearrange. Kind of a late Summer cleaning instead of Spring...gotta get ready for putting up all the Fall stuff! Plus, sometimes it just feels really good to feel fresh and clean. It seems to cure my overwhelmed feeling sometimes when I look around and see the "same old stuff". Love color, too, can ya tell?

Oh yes, and I did a LITTLE shopping. I talked about this movie last night, The Mambo Kings, but forgot to add the picture. The men in this movie are sooooo handsome. Something about those tall dark and handsome guys. Desi Arnaz Jr. plays his Dad, and does an excellent job. Those guys were hot when they came from Cuba  to play in nightclubs in America. Long before the days of "I Love Lucy". They were the Mambo Kings. Armand Asante is ...whew! so romantic. He isn't always a nice guy, but it's only a fantasy! The movie itself captures the era. I would recommend it to all you vintage lovers.

Well, it's pouring down and storming. Love it! It cooled things down quite a bit. Great sleeping weather!

I cashed in on the pillowcases today@ the Disabled Vets Thrift Store.

Let's see, this weekend...it went by, as usual in a blur. First, I took my beagle Angel back to the vet. I knew it wasn't good, because she is more congested now. As soon as we got in the door, she peed, and it had blood in it. So, when we finally got to see the doc, he felt of her stomach and said, "she's full of bladder stones"., and then, he said she had congestion, probably congestive heart failure and put her on Lasix.
I also had a good time, not all bad this weekend. We went to my oldest son's birthday party. I got to see my girls, which is always great, and some other people I haven't seen in ages. Then, we kicked off the Halloween season early and went to see "the Last Exorcism". Pretty strange...

I also found a movie, The Mambo Kings, with Armand Asante...very sexy and fun to watch the clothes, etc.

Just couldn't stop myself from putting out some Autumn  barkcloth! See ya soon

I got some of my gold sixties pillow out! I can't help but think I'm having an influence on my daughter India's boyfriend. He's putting permanent pinups on his car! I passed this hamburger joint (has been there forever!) downtown in KCMO tonight. Made me want a burger, nice and greasy! I lit my Christmas candles in the windows, now that they are more "open". I kinda like the way they look without heavy drapes for a change.

This is the most random blogging I've ever done... Oh well.
Beagle update. Angel, my beagle, seemed better until the antibiotics were gone. Now, she's coughing again, so I'll have to take her back..probably for an xray. Pray for her.They said it could be CHF (congestive heart failure), but they do have meds for that. Zootsuitmama signing off.
