Weekend Update, the sequel
Now, I'm not going to rehash the whole bailing water out of muy basement again. (promise!) Here are a few more pix. I'll do a whole trailer blow out soon! I'll start on the deck and work outward to the trailer.
Weekend update!
Here's a few of my front yard and little porch-

Stay tuned for part two-more deck and backyard/trailer...
Had a fun but tiring weekend. Took Thursday off to watch my grandbabies while mommy and daddy went on a canoe trip. My friend came up Saturday from the lake (Ozarks) and we thrift shopped and garage saled til we dropped! Be sure to check out her great finds at retrocurbclimber. blog! Here's some random pix of the weekend, the lil trailer and other thrift store finds-

Friday at my son Jeremy's house
Above in my office, a tiny sized jacket from the Phillipines WWII, on the front is the name "Snooks"-must have been his girls' nick-name.
I took a vacation day today to stay with my two youngest grandkids, Lily and Kaitlyn. Great-Grandma is here too, and being 83 and the "old school" disciplinarian, she worries about everything they do. Oh well, good thing Grandma (me!) is here to save the day! At least they have all the family that loves them, that's what's important. We spent the night, so Mommy and Daddy could go canoeing together. The last three years, Sarah (my daughter in law) was either pregnant or nursing babies, and couldn't go. Her dad and brother also take the annual trip, so it was nice that she could go. Plus, I don't get to see them as much as I'd like, due to work, school etc. So it worked out perfect for me!! I did manage to hit some thrift stores last night...though. And guess what I found? A telephone bench from the fifties (pix tonight) and a - drum roll please- boomerang coffee table ! I'm going to paint it, but not sure what color yet! And, I found a twin size chenille bedspread, very soft and colorful - It was half price day, so the whole shebang only cost me about 16.00!
I also took some pictures of my office. I was so happy that I finally got my own office back after being crammed in like sardines for a year (3 in an office)! I try to do a WWII theme, because the older residents
Note the army green metal desk and chair! and...more posters- Until later, sincerely Zootsuitmama

Thrifting in the Rain, Just thrifting in the rain...
Thought I'd show ya some of my deck. I am probably gonna change it, but right now, since I haven't had much time to rearrange, it's cabiny..I love these old signs. They remind me of going to the cabin at the lake when I was a kid.Pretty tacky, huh?!?

This is an oriental scarf I found tonight. Not much at the thrift stores. I did get several pieces of the "starburst" knives, forks and spoons. I also got a plaster pear for the kitchen. And this awesome (bad picture) cookbook from Cutco Cutlery! Very sixties.

Update , yes two in one day!
This is my hankie curtain going out onto the deck. I saw this idea at a shop called "Ya-Ya's" and loved it.
This rain is dampening all our spirits. Baby had the right idea! But then, so did Angel.Ziggy, man of the house and always "on guard" didn't , though.
Wanted to give an update on the herbs in the terrarium-they are growing!!!
A few of my flowers that I could plant without getting out in the mud - in a window box on the deck!
It's been kind of a weird weekend. I have water in the basement again. The sump pump kept stopping, then starting, now stopped again. Then, my new clothes dryer started making a crazy noise. I looked in the vent, couldn't see, turned it back on, it blew a fuse. I move fifteen boxes out of the way to the breaker that we had just moved there out of the wet part of the basement. Go back, it's still making noise. I stick a coat hanger down in the vent, drop the hanger, get another one and pull both the other wire hanger and a sock out. (No MORE WIRE HANGERS!!) Then - I get in the car to go to my Mom's for dinner, the engine light comes on and it sounds weird. So....I decided to eat an extra big piece of pineapple cake with cream cheese icing for comfort food!
Check out this new blog, and send some blog love!!
My friend over at Retrocurbclimber is trying to get her blog going. She needs friends! She has really cool taste in vintage. It's more of a "Down at the lake cabin look" but mid century none the less. Every so often, she does score awesome '50's stuff that isn't "cabin". She got an awesome mermaid lamp yesterday, and I love it!
So please-check her out! And for a teaser, the picture above is the new mermaid lamp. Dig those crazy stars on the shade!! Mermaids and stars..oh my!

"Oriental" /Asian mishmash
Just thought I'd show some of my oriental living room pix, I got three of them from my friend Merilee, my retro vintage partner in crime. She looks for my kind of stuff and I look for hers. Although today she got an awesome mermaid lamp that I am lusting after. The paint by number is probably my fav. But the Lady is really old and I love her too. Now can you see why everybody calls my living room the Opium den??
